About the Japanese Name Generator

Anime first, tradition close behind

Most Japanese name tools stop at a list of common real-world names. This one is built anime-first. Anime and manga naming is its own register: scenic surnames, bright or ominous imagery, and given names chosen so a character's role is legible the moment the name is spoken. The generator models that directly with dedicated protagonist, shonen, shoujo, and villain styles, each drawing from a pool tuned to the archetype. When you need realism instead, the traditional male and traditional female styles stick to names you would genuinely meet in Japan, built on the country's most common surnames. How it works, and what we never see

Every name is assembled in your browser from a curated corpus of generic Japanese name components: real surnames, plausible given names, kana readings, and commonly cited meaning glosses. There is no server doing the generating. Your style choices, your clicks, and anything else you do inside the tool never leave your browser; there is no account system, no daily limit, and nothing to sign up for. Generated names are yours to use in personal and commercial projects alike.

This site is operated by Crossroads Technologies LLC, a small independent studio that builds focused web utilities. The word banks and the guidance on this site are curated and maintained by us directly. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any anime studio, manga publisher, or media franchise, and the generator does not reproduce the names of copyrighted characters; every result is a fresh combination of generic name components.
